Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), Villigen, Switzerland
Starting 2015, we achieved the long-awaited goal of becoming suppliers of the gamma and neutron monitoring system at the new Swiss Free Electron Laser accelerator (SwissFEL).
From that date onwards, we regularly supply new monitoring units to satisfy the expanding needs and dimensions of the monitoring system.

Project description:
Supply and installation of the gamma and neutron dose rate monitoring system at the new Swiss Free Electron Laser accelerator (SwissFEL)
Scope:
PSI is an advanced research institute for natural and engineering sciences based in Switzerland, conducting cutting-edge research in fields such as matter and materials, energy and environment and human health.
For this project, ELSE NUCLEAR supplied and installed gamma and neutron monitors which are connected to the PSI Dose Rate Protection System and the Personal Safety System and transmit data every 50 ms for ensuring safety of people outside the accelerator vault.
Up to date, more than 60 detectors have been successfully installed and are operation in the accelerator facility, including ELSE NUCLEAR LUPIN 5401 BF3-NP neutron rem counters for pulsed fields, ELSE NUCLEAR ICP-T ion chamber based gamma radiation monitoring units, as well as ELSE NUCLEAR SATURN 5702 gamma and neutron environmental monitoring mobile stations.
